Put your mind in a position where it wants to shut itself off, and sleep. See insomnia treatments, in much more detail than can be included here, in section 3, at ezy build, below. Use one of the relaxation methods, in bed, after lights out, in sections 11, 2, 2.c, or 2.i, but they can take some time to master, (Progressive Muscular Relaxation excepted) so learn and become proficient in their use during the day. An alternative is to use the EFT, in section 53, saying to yourself: "Even though I sometimes have a sleep disorder, I deeply and completely accept myself." (or choose your own wording) while you use the acupressure tapping.
Some more; quick, and easy to learn, are at The progressive muscle relaxation, (most easily learned) guided imagery, and mindfulness breathing are known to be effective. Find out which works best for you, in the daylight hours, so you will be prepared, come bedtime. For many people, a good idea is to develop a set "wind down" routine for the last hour before bedtime, so your subconscious mind learns that it is time to put thinking aside, and prepare for mindfulness, (awareness, without cogitation/purposeful thought) or the EFT, in preparation for sleep, but the idea with mindfulness is to not even think about sleeping: just drift off, naturally, during exercising those techniques.
Avoid TV, computer, or anything exciting in this hour, although reading a BORING! book is a good idea. I suggest that you try using the EMDR variant, in section 3, on page A, prior to the mindfulness, or the progressive muscular relaxation, but after the EFT, if that method is chosen. Experiment, to find which combination works best for you. I also use it prior to my chosen relaxation technique, after lights out, at night. Get strong light, preferably sunlight (even if overcast) soon after waking in the morning, to reset your circadian rhythm. Your bedroom should very dark, after lights out, and a good sleeping temperature is 70 F, or 19 C. No daytime napping. Have a cup of chamomile herbal tea, an hour before bedtime, and employ many of the techniques in section 3."

do not want to try cocain? im a stockbroker and in wall street sniffing cocain is a regular thing...any way i never tried it but think it may be very possible even though i never wanted to because of the obvious reasons(still dont), reason why i think its possible is because i smoke pot occasionaly, take vicodin occasionaly, take percocets, xanax, klonopin, sometimes mix benzos and opiates..anyway when ever there is a party im always around cocain, I was offered it many times and didnt do it...question is; what do you think the chance is for me to try it?- since im always around it and abuse perscription meds. Bottom line is i truly do not want to touch it but im pretty sure this is how it all starts, by smoking weed taking pills and moving on to something stronger..the fact that im even asking this question shows me theres a possibility, but i truly dont want to

I smoke weed daily, and i completely satisfied with only that and it has not ruined my life in the least bit. I personally wouldn't touch cocaine, way to much negative effects as opposed to zero positive effects, I'll stick with my old friend, and i suggest the same to you!
But also... my brother and father are both stockbrokers and in no way see that it has any correlation with cocaine use, except maybe the fact that stockbrokers tend to make alright money. They work at Chicago Board of Trade and claim that if anyone did cocaine they would go crazy from the stress."
Michelle B replied: "This is by far the craziest question. You are not asking people what their experience is; you are asking if you will end up doing drugs. No, not if you choose not to...........
However, if you enjoy weed, and all of those other pain killer medications, the chances are you will probably not like cocaine. Certain personalities are drawn to different narcotics. That is why you rarely see a cocaine and a heroin abuser. It is usually one or the other. Cocaine is a stimulant and all of those pills you are popping are for opposite feelings. feelings of euphoria and relaxation, even weed although it is a hallucinogenic. Cocaine will get you wired; it really is not that pleasurable at all. And if you are a stockbroker in a high performance, stressful job the last thing you want is a drug that makes you more wired and strung out. I am in a similar business and have probably tried the majority of drugs out there and cocaine was my least favorite."

I have a stressful job around many people who also use and abuse cocoaine among other drugs. My posotion affords me many luxuries and a great salary. I have seen many of my coworkers start with a little bit of partying, and move to heavy drug use in just a matter of months. They usually end up in rehab, back living with relatives, or in prison. One coworker was killed recently while going to pick up some dope on the "wrong side of town". If you value your job and your freedoms...stay away from the drugs. all of them!!"

look at the possibilities that will happen if you decide to do cocain
*Angry, hostile and anxious feelings.
* Violent behavior.
* Confusion.
* Mental illness that looks like schizophrenia (paranoid feelings, hallucinations).
* The user can also be haunted by his or her thoughts. Increased physical activity.
* Loss of appetite, which can result in severe weight loss (anorexia).
* Inability to sleep.
* Increased heart and pulse rate.
* Permanent damage to the blood vessels in the brain. which can lead to strokes.
* Convulsions and body tremors.
* Chest pain and raised blood pressure, which could lead to a heart attack and then death.
* Irregular heartbeat.
* AIDS or hepatitis resulting from shared needles.
* Dependence and addiction.
* Tolerance to the drug.
* A runny nose and/or nose bleeds can occur.
* Snorting can damage the nasal tissue and the septum -- the wall that separates the nasal cavities.

My friend is abusing her prescription drugs, can I tell her doctor? I have/had a good friend who I am currently losing to pills. She has suffered from anxiety in the past which has seemingly ceased. She is prescribed Xanax and Klonopin. She has admitted to lying about her anxiety to her doctor. She said she exaggerates mostly everything. Over the past year I have seen her weight drop by nearly 20lbs and her mood is mostly crabby when she is not on "enough" pills. She also buys Oxycontin nearly 2-3x a week mixed with xanax and klonopin. She frequently also drinks on these pills and acknowledges her like for the pills. When we go out she is in the corner passed out cold. Sometimes it can happen in an instant and she is in a deep sleep, sometimes she struggles to keep her eyes open. Is there anyway I can make this known to her doctor? I know there is a patient confidentiality deal here but what would you do? She has gotten worse and it isn't helping that her mom also gives her her Vicodin. On a normal day she is on 5-7 xanax, a few klonopins and a few vicodins. On the 4th of July she took 5 ecstasy pills and all the above mentioned drugs. She has gotten a DUI but that has not affected her one bit since everyone around her is an enabler. What can I do? All of her friends miss the old her. Thanks...
Cuddlebear :) replied: "Yeah,you should!
If you really care about her,you'd tell her doctor!
And I'm sure you do! :).
Or,talk with her and tell her not to abuse them,and that she's using them for a different reason other than the one they're meant for."
Dani L replied: "You can tell her doctor but be prepared to loose your friend for a while until she is clean just be there for her, you can tell the doctor and the pharmacy's and they will not supply her.
My mother was addicted to over the counter drugs as well, but hers was codeine and sleeping pills which also help you loose weight due to the loss of appetite.
It's possible to over come but it is far from easy, because the person with the problem will never admit it, maybe buy her the book that NA provides with the 12 steps to recovery.
But as I said she will fight you on this, but stick by her she will come round."
Sarah Jane replied: "I'm so sorry for your friend and you must really be sick with worry. The real problem here is all the mixing of different medications. It's a death sentence. Even over use of any one drug can be fatal or possibly cause permanent brain damage, paralysis and just the worst possible health conditions a person can imagine. There is no law that you can't inform her Doctor. However, usually people with this level of drug abuse will find another way to get all of this stuff. In addition, i'm not knocking NA but I know a lot of people who go to those meetings and if they are not TRULY ready to stop what they are doing on a personal level, they end up just making some really great connections. She needs to be ready to start outpatient treatment for it to work. In fact, she will need to be ready despite what anybody tells her.
This really breaks my heart, for both of you and her family.
I guess i would sit her down and have that one last VERY LONG, VERY SERIOUS discussion with her about your concerns. Go online and find some photographs of people who have overdosed on the same stuff she is taking and show them to her. It sounds harsh but find some of the most horrible stuff possible and be prepared for both of you to just get sick over what you see. Find people who are dead from overdose and print out the pictures. Find photos of people who are hooked up to life support because of taking too many drugs and read her the stories while she looks over the pictures.
If shocking her into a reality check doesn't work, call everybody you can. In the long run, she will have to make a choice-you or her drug use. This is going to be one of the hardest things you ever do. Maybe you could recruit some of her friends that you mentioned who miss the old her?
Also, it's obvious she does have something wrong. It's possible the reason she feels a need to make herself so oblivious to the world is some other kind of mood disorder. Maybe she is clinically depressed and she needs to start taking something like Prozac to make this all a little better? If you decide to call her Doctor, or Doctors, I would make sure to ask what can be done to get her well in addition to your concerns about her health and possible overdose. She seems very sad all around don't you think? I would try to find some ways she would see that there is so much hope for her that she doesn't have to suffer in order to save her own life. If she volunteered herself into an inpatient facility, it wouldn't be a picnic but they could make sure she is gradually weaned off all of this stuff so she doesn't go through too much withdrawal, which in itself can be deadly. It's very dangerous to just stop taking xanax and klonopin suddenly. A person can die from a seizure. So if you talk to her Doctor I would make sure to mention that as well. Make sure the Doctor can help devise a plan to get her weaned off the drugs safely.
In any case, knowing that she has a friend who loves her enough to confront her and/or call her Doctor and getting her other friends together to help you will make her feel some sense of self-worth.
I will be thinking of her and the job you have ahead of you. I mean the good thing is-there is HOPE:) That is where the NA meetings come in. I've also heard that sometimes people with drug problems will benefit just as much from the AA meetings. Go online and find your local chapters of AA and NA and print out the schedule for her.
You are the kind of friend everyone should have.
Best Wishes,
SarahJane"
TheMad Catter replied: "Going over her head to the doc is just dirty. Give her a chance to face facts and the seriousness of it all. You can't MAKE or FORCE her to do anything anyway. She could agree to treatment tomorrow just to shut everyone up and fake it all the way to graduation day. It has to come from her. She will only do it when she's able or decides to on her own. It may get worse, you may have to walk away from her for the benefit of you both.
Tattling to the doc or going behind her back will only piss her off royally and delay her reality further. It's the lazy way to help your friend. It's nice that you want to help but you're not the miracle worker. It's out of your control, you cant prevent her OD or death. Not being callous or flip, but sometimes bad things happen, we grieve, we regret, we blame. Life doesn't stop, we have to keep going or risk losing our own sanity."
Would you rather have your kids smoke pot, or pop pills they know nothing about? There was a recent report on the NBC Nightly News about how teens usage of illegal drugs has gone down. ie: pot, coke, crack, meth, ecstacy, etc...BUT at the same time, prescription drug abuse has risen dramatically. In other words, they are getting into the parents, or grandparents medicine cabinets, and stealing Xanax, Klonopin, Lortab, Percocet, any kind of narcotic, or anti-anxiety drug they can get their hands on, not to mention they are widely available on the street. They are certainly not taking them as directed, but popping several of the pills at a time, mixing different meds with each other without knowing the adverse reactions, and have the more is better mentality.
Personally, I would rather have my kid smoke pot. At least I would know that my kid could function normally, and not pass out at the wheel of a car, or overdose on pot, because it is impossible to OD on it.
And just so you all know. Pot is not the monster drug the Government and media have made it out to be. In all reality it should be re-classified as an herbal remedy for nausea, glaucoma, pain, and anxiety.
Of course you would rather have them do neither. Duh! But kids are kids and they will experiment. Pot can't kill you unless it is laced with something. That is an extremely rare occurance. You could say the same thing about alcohol.
To Me: You are way off base honey, have you ever tried it. I have never been so stoned, (and I used to smoke a LOT) I could not function, drive, never came close to passing out at the wheel. That is all part of the Refer Madness Propaganda machine. I'm not as uneducated and stupid as you may think.
Scooterette1! replied: "I would rather have them do NIETHER.
And pot can kill you, especially if laced with something."

I too beleive pot should be reclassified, how can they catergorize it with Lortabs?? I have never known anyone to do anything crazy while smoking a joint, on the other hand those pills are so addicting and harmful!!!"
Me replied: "Function normally??? not pass out behind the wheel of a car??? Wow!!!! Alright - did you smoke a little too much in your times? Sorry - but that is absolutely crazy! The overdose - o.k. that point I give you, but people can die from pot-related reactions just as well! And pills just like any drug - they usually know which ones they should take for best effects... they are smarter than you may think!
All drugs are bad for kids - they all alter their mind and can lead to serious bad consequences.
For me there is only one preference - NO Drugs of any kind are tolerated - And BTW Home drug testing is a great way to aleviate your kids from peer pressure!"

THC and seditives? I have a friend who gets really paranoid and has panic attacks on a regular basis and these feelings are greatly increased when they smoke MJ, recently she has been put on a sedative called ativan to control her anxiety, she thinks that if she takes the ativan and then smokes she will be alright but I told her that mixing it might kill her... I don't know anything about it but I'm more worried than she is. Is this a harmful combination, from my understanding Ativan is the same as Klonopin and Xanax
killfoot2001 replied: "Mixing any benzodiazepine like xanax, ativan, valium klonopins, or whatever (They are different by the way but in the same family) with cannabis will cause little harm and certainly nothing even close to deadly, but probably intoxicate them quite a bit more than normal.
You must avoid mixing benzos with themselves, and other depressants like alcohol, opiates, muscle relaxers or GHB. That's when it becomes dangerous.
And really, smoking marijuana is one of the worst things a person with anxiety problems can do. Benzodiazepines are very addictive and she shouldn't take them anymore than she has to."

As you know I took sleeping medication and it's making me calmer and sleepy. I mixed it with the Effexor XR and Simply Sleep Tylenol PM.
Will it helped if I asked my doctor M.D about Valium, Xanax, Klonopin while I'm on Effexor XR? If I had and took it...will I get addicted to it? I don't think there's hope for me besides talk about my daily life on here and how miserable it is.

Will this cause brain damage? Yes, i posted before. I don't think people took me seriously enough.
I would like to know how to get sick. I'mtalkingg about brain damage (permanently will be a plus).
I got this, most of it i bought from an IOP:
Valium/Diazepam
Klonopin/Clonazepam
Ativan/Lorazepam
Xanax/Alprazolam
Soma/Carisoprodol
Tramadol
Promethazine
Bricanyl
Aspirin
Paracetamol
I also got ALOT vitamins... will a MEGA .. like 100g dose make any brain damage?
If anyone knows how to get LSD, please tell me that also.
Will mixing any of thoughcausee me brain damage. Do i need to hit my self hard? Please i need a need 'recipe'. Thank you.
I lastly. I'. NOT fucked up psychosis freak. I'm working got (a VERY few) friends. etc... all this normal things, and that's freaking me out. Give me something terrible mental permanent condition.
Please, tell me if i should mix some of the above drugs that i own, so i can get the condition that i desire.
Please listen.
I've got Aspergers Syndrome. This means that i will live my life alone... 'emptiness' to the end.
I want something to happend. I envy those with serious mental illnesses.
I just want their lifes. I would like to exchange my life with theirs.
I know i will regret, suffer etc. but i WANT it.
Hopefully Helpful replied: "It does sound like you are in a lot of emotional pain.
You do not need to have brain damage in order to take a long break. You can stop doing everything without brain damage. Maybe you need to rest and think about ways to help yourself feel better. It is OK to do nothing if that is what you feel like doing. You don't have to be alone with your pain. Therapy/medication can be a new beginning for you. You can do things the way you choose. You are in charge. Please don't hurt yourself. Best Wishes to you."
Should I consider medical school? Should I reject the possibility of medical school? I am a psychology major and I'm taking many science classes because I love neuroscience. I am hoping to go into a PhD- level program in either Clinical or Cognitive (this keeps changing) psychology. However, I am finding myself increasingly interested in psychiatry. I want to be able to treat people, I believe in using medication (sparingly) and want to teach doctors. Moreover, I feel like medical school, from what I have read from the curricula I have seen, is for me. Actually, I'm hoping to apply for MD/PhD programs within the next 2-3 year (I am a junior starting tomorrow).
There is one problem I can see with this possible career path. I have bipolar disorder and sometimes, when I am very manic or depressed, I have the tendency to look for ways to kill myself or for means of self-medicating. I once abused Xanax and then Klonopin when my psychiatrist prescribed it for the anxiety-like symptoms that accompanied my mixed state.
I am afraid that if I have access to a prescription pad or samples that I might end up getting myself in trouble. Is this a valid reason to consider rejecting psychiatry as a possible path? I am not really sure, but I'm a bit heart broken. Even though I would usually never touch a substance with a 10 foot pole, sometimes, I'm not really sure what comes over me. My illness should not be an excuse, but I guess you could say I'm still navigating it. The thought that having this disorder might keep me from doing something I love, though, makes me feel handicapped.
winnywinnwinn replied: "If you cannot get a handle on these episodes, then you could very well lose your entire career as a psychiatrist if you don't kill/seriously injure yourself. Not to mention being incarcerated! It seems like too much at stake unless you can somehow get to a place where you are confident that nothing will happen. At the very least, as a psychologist you can identify patients who could benefit from drug treatment an refer them to a psychiatrist."
PE2008 replied: "If you have a psychiatric diagnosis such as Bipolar, you should not attempt to get into Medical School, and especially you should not try to become a Psychiatrist. With this diagnosis, your judgment is impaired, and you should not be exposing patients to risk."
